To celebrate the Boggs Center’s 30th anniversary, we are hosting an annual Boggs Legacy Series exhibit to deepen and expand understanding of the past, present, and future of our social practice. The inaugural exhibition will celebrate Community Safety in Detroit.

Detroit has offered leadership to the movement against state supported violence for more than 50 years. James and Grace Lee Boggs always understood the capacity of their community to create safety through public, creative actions. Join us to uplift and learn about the organizing, mentoring, writings, and community-driven initiatives in which Grace and Jimmy participated, nurturing local leadership with a view to making Detroit a safer, healthier, more life-affirming place. We share this history as a way of encouraging everyone to find their own path and story within the broader, still unfolding story of humanity.
