STATEMENT OF CLARIFICATION REGARDING THE THREE “BOGGS” ENTITIES

This is to clarify that there are three distinct entities that share the name and influence of James and Grace Lee Boggs: the Center, the School, and the Foundation. The dates of founding, addresses, and missions of each entity are listed below.

James and Grace Lee Boggs Center to Nurture Community Leadership

• Founded in 1995

• The mission of the Boggs Center is “to nurture the transformational leadership capacities of individuals and organizations committed to creating just, productive, conscious, and ecologically sustainable communities.”

James and Grace Lee Boggs School

• Founded in 2013

• 7600 Goethe St., Detroit, MI 48214

• The mission of the Boggs School is “to nurture creative, critical thinkers who contribute to the well-being of their communities.”

James and Grace Lee Boggs Foundation

• Founded in 2017

• “Established based on directives from Grace, the Boggs Foundation is the sole owner of the Boggses’ personal and intellectual property and is designed to make the revolutionary work of Jimmy and Grace knowable and meaningful for current and future generations.”

Intellectual Policy Notice

The James and Grace Lee Boggs Foundation is the legal representative for all matters pertaining to the intellectual property of James and Grace Lee Boggs.
